Hot! The Art of the Sale

Nothing separates the savers from the spenders like a yard sale. This weekend my friends Daniel and Helen joined me in a spring cleaning purge with the idea of making a few extra bucks in the process. We hauled out old clothes, computers, and random momentos from our past, put up some signs then sat back to watch the money roll in.

For some reason, I didn’t have many takers on my vintage gap clothes from the 80s and 90s. Daniel’s old electronics did a lot better. But it was Helen who raked it in with her baskets of cute club and work out clothes and jewelry. Although each pieces was only 50 cents or 1 dollar, she made it up in shear volume.

At the end of the day, we tallied up our take. Daniel and I looked at our $40 compared to Helen’s hundreds and agreed: Recession be damned, this was our last yard sale. There had to be easier ways to make money.
