The polling is closed and the votes have been counted. Beer Search Party won the CANFEST Blogger Contest this year in a close race. Congratulations to Sean! I had a lot of fun putting my post together, discovering other beer blogs and getting to know the CANFEST crew. They are all some creative and friendly people.
The best part about being a travel AND beer blogger is that I have no problem making the trip to Reno on my own dime. I’m looking forward to sharing some canned drinks with some new social media friends in a couple months. Cheers until then!

Thanks to everyone who has read and commented on my entry for the 2011 CANFEST Blogger Contest. Including me, there are nine bloggers in the running to attend the festival celebrating canned craft beer. Links to all of the entries are here and they’re worth a read. There’s also a link to the voting page. Girl From Arizona is the last listed.
Every IP address gets only one vote and you cannot change your vote once it’s submitted. Voting is open through Friday, September 23 at noon PST, so don’t put it off. It’s just 2 quick...

They’re sending one blogger to the festivities on their dime. While I don’t consider myself a beer blogger proper, they said it was open to all types of writers, so here it goes.
Besides, how could CANFEST deny true love!
I ♥ canned beer
Anyone who reads this blog or knows me in real life knows that I love canned beer. OK – maybe not as much as these guys.
Well, yeah. Probably as...

I didn’t start out as a solo traveler. My first times in a foreign country were with friends who knew the ropes and spoke another language or two. But it wasn’t until I went out on my own that I really started to learn the art of travel. The better I got at it, the more I liked the freedom of calling the shots, the more confident I got at trusting my own judgment, the more people I met, and the more I saw when I didn’t have to wait for others.
Still, as any lone wolf will tell you, there are times when being on your own sucks. There are days when you’d like someone else to make the decisions....
