Hot! Hits the Spot

I’m not a coffee drinker so I’ve always upset the Italian baristas in the morning with a request for ciocolatta calda. It takes a while to make and even longer to drink. I usually watch four to five rounds of customers pass while I sip my hot chocolate.

On a morning trip to Borgo, Heinz went to the bar for a cappuccino and returned with a macchiato. It is an espresso with a “little spot” of milk and foam – a mini-cino. I try one later in the day and it is pretty darn good. Even better, I can stand and the bar and be Italian with my tiny cup and fast order.

But caffeine is still caffeine. Every day I take my macchiato, and every night I wake up after four hours sleep. Being Italian is tough work.
